THIS IS ONE OF AT LEAST SEVEN POTENTIAL SEPARATE SITES THAT COULD SURROUND OUR VILLAGE!

Dear Neighbour,                                                                                                                                                                                                       Thorney Landscape Protection is a group of Thorney residents that are in opposition to the proposal by West Coast Energy to build a Wind Farm consisting of eight monstrous 126.5 meter (415 ft) high turbines, at Gores Farm, which is in very close proximity to Thorney Village.

You may have received a letter from Peterborough City Council, informing you of and inviting comments on this proposal. If you, like us are opposed, we would urge you to send your written objection to Peterborough City Council by Friday 17^th May 2013.

We would like to stress the point that for objections to be considered, they must be made on valid planning grounds. We have listed below, some of the valid points that you could include in your own words in a letter or you can simply adopt the tear-off section below by filling in with your personal details and send it to the address stated or drop it off at collection points at the Thorney Post Office or Pigeons Farm.

Please understand the importance of  individual objections in securing the future well-being of the Village and its Residents.

Dear Sirs,

I write to place on record my objection to the proposed Wind Farm at Gores Farm, Thorney. My reasons for objection are as follows:

1.       Visual Impact. The Turbines will be oppressive, over- bearing and totally out of scale and architectural character with the current surroundings and the unique Fenland landscape. Shadow Flicker and Reflection will also be unacceptable.

2.       Noise. The Turbines will create noise pollution and vibration to a currently quiet setting, especially with the Village being located on the receiving side of the generally prevailing south westerly wind.

3.       Ecology & Ornithology. The Turbines will be in close proximity and a threat to the Nene Washes S.S.S.I. and associated local conservation areas - a site of international importance for many very rare, threatened and protected species.

4.       Heritage. The Development and its close proximity to Thorney will have a negative impact on the character and setting of historic listed buildings in and around the Conservation Village. Views will be impacted to and from the internationally important ancient monument of Flag Fen.

5.       Archaeology. The Development site interferes with the Prehistoric Settlement on Gores Farm.

6.       Public Footpaths. The Development will interfere with and have negative impact upon the unspoilt rural footpaths used by many local residents to both the north eastern and southern boundaries of the proposed development.

Please advise me of future dates when this application will be considered by the Planning Committee or otherwise.
